There is no cure and Zoe faced this inevitable reality with the utmost bravery and grace living everyday to its fullest. She was one of the strongest women I have ever met. She touched many people's lives. This is a little memorial podcast that I did on FM 98.5 CKWR on my show The Afternoon Drive. Thanks to Jamie Morrison for one of the songs Everglow by Coldplay. This is dedicated to Zoe, her family, friends and her Dine Her family as well Trevor, Jennifer, Joyce, Lisa, Bruce and the rest of the cast and crew. And .... especiallly to Daniel... another extraordinary spirit just like his mother. Zoe wanted to raise the profile on this terrible disease. Please help her by donating to find a cure for MBC at www.cancer.ca
Shine on Zoe.... Love Coral
Steve Toms - In Memoriam
From The Summer of 2013....
It was a pleasure to have bassist Steve Toms from Daddy Long Legs join me recently for a great radio chat and a playlist which included music from many of Steve's personal faves from Son House, to Nick Curran. Steve and I chatted about his early days hanging out with Junior for Sunday afternoon family days at Huggies aka The Grand Hotel in Bridgeport and so much more. Once again, I got the chance to listen and learn more not only about the best of the blues, but more about the region's best blues boys who have redefined the sound of the blues – to me DDL is kinda like garage skiffle blues rock rhythm with a soupcon of soul – sometimes bat ass crazy, sometimes reeeeal hurtin' ….

Steve's Playlist
Son House - Grinnin' in Yer Face
JD McPherson - Northside Gal -(unplugged)
Jon Knight and Soulstack - Desperate Times Like These
Hound Dog Taylor - Give Me Back My Wig
James Cotton - All Night Long
Fabulous Thunderbirds - Wait On Time
Sheena's Back - Nick Curran and The Lowlifes
**That day after the podcast we went to Ethel's for My Shandy! He thought me mixing beer and ginger ale was very "aristocratic!"
That very sunny hot afternoon, I sat on the Ethels patio with Steve and a table of his pals, some of which are now my closest friends. It was Steve who urged me to come out and have fun! And have a Shandy or two! He had such infectious "fantastico" energy and a coolomundo laugh!
I am so glad I got to see him rock out at The Starlight (with Junior) playin' in with one of his fave bands (The 24th Street Wailers) one last time. You were a very special guy, Stevie Boy "Sweet Sugarman" Toms, and not because you were a part Irish left handed bassplayer .... but because you were so kind and generous to everyone around you. I am guessing by now you have found your mum, and maybe Nick Curran. Play on lefty bassboy. You are severely missed by so many people ..... Love to Steve's loved ones, and all of his musician's family. You left us one helluva music legacy, boyo. A Shandy Slainte!
