Coral FM's 2014 Interviews
The Lovely and Amazing Lily Frost

Singer songwriter Lily Frost is a rare bird from Canada’s musical woods. Frost has always danced the line between indie and jazz, thus creating a niche of her own. Frost draws from her real life experiences in her lyrics – in performance, there is an intimacy, a gentle passion that can take you somewhere else and evokes a certain nostalgia – the rainy streets of Paris, a winter picnic or perhaps a beat café in San Francisco. This rarity and distinctiveness can be found on her latest offering, Do What You Love. Do What You Love puts Lily’s distinct sound and exceptional talents together in one concise package.
From the lyrics to the arrangements to the striking artwork, Do What You Love packs a punch and delivers insightful truths about life – embracing femininity with strength, joy and creativity. “I wanted to make a fun, upbeat record for my daughter that included lessons I had learned the hard way,” says Lily. “I wanted to leave people feeling inspired with smiles on their faces.” Lily left me with a smile on my face when she granted me a recent wide ranging Sunday morning phone chat when she played The Painted Lady last March. We talked about her latest CD Do What You Love, (which I Love Love Love!) fave 60's chanteuses, and her happy life as a musician / mother to her son Meesha and daughter Paloma (who this latest CD is dedicated to!) and even Lily's current passion for TV's Mad Men! Do What You Love is continues to garner rave reviews!
In recent years, Lily has won West Coast Vocalist of the Year (2002, New Music West), a SOCAN award for Situation (2006, NXNE) and also a Gemini Award nominee for co-writing the theme song and score for the CBC hit television show, Being Erica.

Shannon Lyon - Lassoing The Wild West of Music...

About Shannon Lyon
Shannon Lyon is a Canadian musician and singer-songwriter. Born in Uxbridge, Ontario, Canada, Lyon began his musical career in Kitchener, Ontario in the early 90's forming his first band Strange Days (1990-1993) recording one album entitled 'Life Aint Easy' produced by Nelson McCrossan. During this time Lyon also started his low-key solo career and released his first solo studio album entitled 'Buffalo White' in 1994 which was recorded by friend Bill
Braun.
Since 1994 Lyon has released ten studio albums and has received critical acclaim and commercial success in Europe, North
America and Australia.
Lyon was the first Canadian signed to Richard Branson's post Virgin Records label V2in 2004(becoming label mates with The White Stripes and Paul Weller) with the release of the critically acclaimed album 'Wandered' which was recorded in a 17th century farmhouse in the south of Holland with Dutch producer Bj Baartmans. Wandered was released in Australia on Collision records and in Europe on Inbetweens Records.
In 2003 Lyon signed with Canadian Roots label Busted Flat Records (Matt Anderson, Jay Semko, Paul MacLeod), a rootsmusic label founded in 2002 by music impresario Mark Logan and based in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada. Busted Flat has released 5 of Lyon's albums to date. (Bound, Safe Inside, Someday Mourning, El Sol, and Broken Things). Lyon moved to Holland in 2000 and spent the better part of a decade living and touring in Spain, Germany, France
and The Netherlands. Lyon is currently located in Canada.
(Lyon has toured and shared the stage in Europe, Australia, USA and Canada with such artists as Lucinda Williams, Richard Buckner, Jay Farrar, Ray LaMontagne, Blue Rodeo and Bruce Cockburn).
I was the very first person to interview Shannon Lyon many years ago, and I knew then he was destined for great things. His latest album The Lights Behind (produced by longtime pal Rob Szabo) revisits old songs including a few from one of his first bands Strange Days.
20 years on, Shannon Lyon has lassoed the wild west of the music industry with his special brand of alt folk that has made him one of Canada's most gifted songwriters.
I caught up with Shannon en route to Sudbury during his cross Canada 35 city tour (including Kitchener's Cafe Pyrus May 3) which begins in Kamloops, and ends in Kamloops, not far from his mountain home / recording studio - Lost Creek Cabin.

Craig Cardiff - Always Telling the Book of Truths

For the past two and a half years,
Craig Cardiff has been passing around a Book of Truths during his shows and asking his fans to share something truthful in it – a story, a confession, a
hope, a secret.
The book gives fans a chance to write down something they might be too afraid to say out loud, and it gives Cardiff an opportunity to connect with the people who come to his shows.
Those entries aren’t always easy to read. The stories can be heartbreaking, and they can leave Cardiff wanting to do something, to find the person who wrote in his book and tell them to hold on for tomorrow, that things will be OK.
Cardiff’s new album, Love Is Louder (Than All This Noise) Part 1 & 2, has turned into a response to those stories. This double album, which was released Nov. 19, 2013, offers 21
tracks that are connected by an underlying sense that there are better days to
come. The Arnprior-based folk singer worked with producers Ben Leggett (Faraway Neighbours, Ben Hermann) and Andre Wahl (Hawksley Workman, Luke Doucet) to record an album that is quite different than anything Cardiff has released before. Love Is Louder (Than All This Noise) is one-part boisterous group sing-along, one-part gentle lullaby. One
album features full live band recordings, while the other is more subdued, with
acoustic guitar, cello, clarinet and violin.
This is the same team that produced Floods and Fires, the album that earned Cardiff a nomination for a 2012 Juno Award for Roots and Traditional Album of the Year: Solo and a
Canadian Folk Music Award nomination as 2012 Contemporary Singer of the Year.
This time, Leggett and Wahl told Cardiff they wouldn’t let him make an album
like the ones he’s made before.
Cardiff recorded with a live band for the first time, playing louder and harder than he ever has, and he stepped into a new role, arranging instrumental parts. Cardiff, Leggett and Wahl recorded Love Is Louder (Than All This Noise) primarily in Cardiff’s home studio
in Arnprior – which he and Leggett built together during the recording of
Floods and Fires – the Chalet Studio in Claremont, and the Schoolhouse
studio built by Hawksley Workman outside Huntsville.
Craig plays Maxwelll's Music House on Thurs May 22, and The Galt Club @ Cafe 13 on Friday May 23. For more info about Craig and his current tour go to http://www.craigcardiff.com
Love Is Louder (Than All This Noise) is a fabulous double CD. I have most of it on my Ipod so I can have Craig's little heartplays in my ear wherever I roam. - Coral FM

The Lyrical Honesty and Multimusic Genre Savvy
of Toronto's Young Running

Young Running Joins Vinyl Cafe Series
Conjoining the complimentary genres of indie,
folk and roots to create a unique aural drive that is as captivating as it is distinct.
Young Running's take on amalgamating the finer elements of influences including The Beatles, Radiohead, The Beauties, Iron & Wine, Death Cab For Cutie and Neil Young begets an unparalleled purity. Young Running's fresh perspective is illustrated on their sophomore release,
an independent five-song EP dubbed Coming Home.
Recorded over four days with producer Derek Downham (The
Beauties) and engineer John Dinsmore at esteemed Hogtown facility Lincoln County Social Club, Moss is elated at how sublimely it showcases the band's solidity.
Highlighted on tunes such as the simple and honest title track via its provoking thoughts on returning to a small hometown with romance on the mind, breezy “Quiver Of Smoke” relating the sentiment of a former spark potentially set to rekindle—as conveyed in a momentous albeit breezy tempo—and “Ohh My” utilizing an easy, virulent groove to set the stage for a bar fight,
Coming Home is surely on a straight and narrow path fuelled by confidence, dominance, subtlety and originality.
Listen here for my interview with Young Running's songwriter Liam Kearney - another fine band in the Vinyl Cafe House Concert Series. The band is making their Cambridge debut!
No doubt they will soon be back!

The Royal Streets - Kingdoms of Fans Await Across Canada
Hailing from Waterloo, Ontario, The Royal Streets featuring Sam Keating, drums, Eric Stirtzinger, guitar, Algeron Friolet, Guitar/Vocals, Jillian Dowding, vocals, and Michael Demsey, guitar, have already begun to make their mark on the Canadian folk-rock music scene. Following a year and half of consisting Eastern Canada touring, The Royal Streets released their debut studio effort, Kings & Queen, on March 6th 2014 with the help of Catherine North Studios and producer Dan Hosh. whose credits include Canadian acts like City & Colour, Whitehorse, and Rose Cousins.
Although the four of us have gone to school and been friends with each other for the majority of our lives, it was not until recently that we decided combine our efforts musically. The Royal Streets is our way of demonstrating hours and hours of hard work mixed with a variety of musical influences and our own life experiences. We are based out of Waterloo, Ontario and hope to share these sounds with all of you. Have a listen and join the riot, we are The Royal Streets.
After two more gigs on around the GTA, The Royal Streets will soon embark on their first Western tour and I am sure it will not be their last!
**This is strange mix for this podcast – part of it is phone chat, and part of it is in studio.
The reason for this – my recorder did not properly record the live broadcast, (with Jillian, Michael, and Al who also sang a new song Sour Diesel) so I salvaged what I could of it and then mixed in the phone chat that I did with Jillian and Michael the day before. And then I mixed in some of the great tunes from their latest CD Kings and Queen. Ah, technology... ain't it great when it works? - Coral.**
Catch The Royal Streets at The Wax (beside Bobby O'Brien's in downtown Kitchener) with special guests Amberwood and very special guests 1951 featuring their good pal / producer Dan Hosh from Hamilton's Catherine North Studios.
For more info check out The Royal's Facebook page or www.theroyalstreets.com

Jordan Patterson's High Energy Blues -
Electrified, Funkified, Rocked Out and Amplified!

About Jordan Patterson...
After spending nearly the last decade and a half forging a highly successful career in artist tour management and concert & event promotion for artist Britney Spears, and as a Concert Production Manager/Promoter Representative for House of Blues Concerts Canada, renown Blues vocalist/harp player Jordan Patterson has returned to his first love and passion; playing and singing the blues.
Influenced by such blues harp legends as James Cotton, Paul Butterfield and Mark Wenner of The Nighthawks, Patterson’s incendiary live performances have led him and his band D.C. Hurricane to play at such premier festivals as the Tampa Bay Blues Festival (where he stole the show in 1996), Canada’s Tros Rivieres Blues Festival, the Montreal Jazz Festival, the UK’s Burnley National Blues Festival, the London Blues Festival, Helsinki, Finland’s April Jazz Festival and many more. Patterson has also performed at venues throughout North America and Europe with some of the music industry’s true legends, including James Brown, Barbara Morrison, Carlos Santana, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Mick Fleetwood, Robert Cray, Son Seals, Savoy Brown and Texas bluesman, U.P. Wilson, with whom he recorded the JSP Records released album, “Whirlwind.” Patterson subsequently toured Europe as a double bill in support of that release. In addition to his festival appearances, during his time in the U.K., Patterson and the D.C. Hurricane performed to sold-out crowds at famed London nightclubs Ronnie Scott’s and The 100 Club, and had the amazing opportunity to record sessions for the BBC Musical Archives, which were broadcast all throughout the European continents; amassing him many more fans in the process.
In 1996, Jordan released his debut album ‘Give Me a Chance’ on JSP Records with The D.C. Hurricane. The solid offering featured guest performances from blues legends Bobby Rush and Bobby Parker. It also garnered Patterson critical acclaim and worldwide press from notable publications as Living Blues Magazine (USA); Blueprint Magazine (UK); All Music Guide (USA); Juke Joint Magazine (UK), and countless newspapers throughout the globe. Blueprint Magazine was especially enthusiastic about Patterson’s live performance exclaiming, “Blessed with a voice that many performers would die for, Patterson has the wit and personality that guarantee him success. This man is a class performer and a major star in the making.” ‘Give Me a Chance’ also earned Patterson rotation on blues stations throughout the globe, including XM Radio and with Bill Wax, Program Director of B.B. King’s Bluesville, who still remains a fan to this day.
Patterson is currently in the studio with his fresh new Canadian line up; The Jordan Patterson Band. With Patterson on harp, the group features bass player Darius McKinley, drummer Benjamin Rollo, guitarist Darryl Romphf and Washington DC-based, guitarist Bobby Thompson. “The Back On Track” recording project has now been released as an EP; a 4-track tease to the full-length album set to debut this winter and available for listen at jordanpatterson.ca. Three of its songs were showcased via Youtube and garnished over an impressive 40,000 hits on Patterson’s various social pages. It is a welcome return for this most galvanizing, exciting songwriter and performer as he takes his rightful spot as one of the leading practitioners of blues harp on the scene today.
I cannot believe that these three talented musicians spent over an hour with me at the Sound FM studios. All of them are high calibre players able to play anywhere in the world. Jordan has quite a pedigee. His mother, Professor Nancy-Lou Patterson – published Author, Fine Arts Professor, is a renowned artist / art historian and founder of the Fine Arts department at the University of Waterloo. His father, Dr. E Palmer Patterson is a published Author and History Professor at the University of Waterloo, with a focus on the history of the First Nations People .
Jordan is the youngest of nine kids, and years back Emmanuel Patterson or Manny as I called him was one of my main media contacts for concerts in Waterloo Region. He is now Promoter/ Director of Festivals for Live Nation Canada. So this is one high achieving family!
I sat like a sponge taking in every word Jordan, Darryl, and Bobby said about "The Back on Track Recording Project " from Jordan's backstory behind the each of these vibrant songs on the EP, and their immediate musical chemistry, to the actual performance "shorthand" of the band... And Jordan's special high five to The Ultimate KW Blues Concert Curator Glenn Smith!
So grab a drink, and a snack, and have a listen to three mega talented musicmen Jordan Patterson, (acclaimed producer/songwriter/guitarist) Darryl Romphf, and Bobby Thompson as they talk about how this project came to be and the kick ass show that is happening tonight at Cork Hall.
KW is sooooo glad that Jordan is going to bring it on home with his special brand of high energy harp n blues - Electrified! Funkified! Rocked Out and Amplified. - Coral FM

Sharron Matthews and I had a wide ranging chin wag which runs from her tumultous childhood, to portraying both sides of the theatre nasks through her work, her family tree and The Bard, in addition to singing in New York at Joe's Pub, Vicious Bitches in Toronto with Gavin Crawford, Film roles in Mean Girls with Tina Fey, and Hairspray with John Travolta, her latest one woman show about stage fright (in creative progress) Full Dark, and of course ....
Sharron's Big Broadway Show. For me meeting Sharron Matthews was like meeting a kindred spirit. Sharron is smart and sassy and so down to earth. She with her scotch and diet cola, and I with my shiraz, waxed songs, Sharron's Mash Ups, theatre, her pal Jann Arden, Canada Sings, George! her Dora award winning husband (London Road!) Prince, and Grey's Anatomy (**Spoiler Alerts**)!
I can hardly wait to experience this one of a kind performance July 26 at St John's Church for The Elora Festival. Cheers to a Lady who Soars on Her Own Terms! - Coral FM.

For the past 66 years, KW Musical Productions has given local residents an opportunity to shine both on stage and off.
No one in the cast is a professional performer; for the majority of the production team, theatre is not their full time job. Having successfully produced over 75 productions since 1948, KWMP continues to stay true to its mandate and provide community members of every age and background the opportunity to experience and participate in high quality musical theatre. And The Drowsy Chaperone is no exception.... The Drowsy Chaperone is a Canadian musical that originally debuted at the Toronto Fringe Festival. Written by Bob Martin and Don McKellar with music and lyrics by Lisa Lambert and Greg Morrison, The Drowsy Chaperone was developed with the help of Mirvish Productions and was a sleeper hit. It opened on Broadway in 2006 winning 5 Tony Awards including Best Book of a Musical and Best Score.
This toe-tapping comedy will bring you back to the golden age of musicals. It all begins when a die-hard musical theatre fan known simply as "Man in Chair" tries to chase his blues away by putting on his favourite cast album – the 1928 musical comedy, The Drowsy Chaperone. From the crackle of his hi-fi the musical magically bursts to life on stage. His apartment is transformed into an arena full of spectacular merriment and mayhem featuring clever comedy songs, terrific tap dancing and larger than life characters including a glamorous starlet bride, her dashing groom, his loyal best man, a scheming producer, a ditzy chorus girl, a pair of goofy gangsters, a bumbling Latin lover, the bride's savvy chaperone and more!
The creative team for The Drowsy Chaperone includes Director Eric Da Costa, Music Director Bob Stalder and Choreographer Sarah Willett. The 1920s set is designed by John Bigelow and Ann MacKenzie with complementary lighting design by Laura Johnson-Sherratt and lavish period costumes designed by Ann MacKenzie. Props are created by Claudia Riggi with hair, wigs and make-up by Ene Billings. Tim Jackson is the Stage Manager with Ian Huggins, Jennie Jamieson and Stephanie Bradshaw as Assistant Stage Managers.
The cast includes David Atkins as the theatre aficionado known as Man in Chair, Vicci Taylor as the wealthy but daft Mrs. Tottendale, Dale Brubacher-Cressman as her proper butler Underling, Tristan Pilcher as the debonair groom Robert, Trevor Middleton as his best man George, Rob Bridel as the manipulative producer Mr. Feldzieg, Amie Debrone as the ambitious chorus girl Kitty, Tim Clarke as the ladies’ man Aldopho, Mikayla McCrory as the famous bride Janet Van De Graaff, Elise Brisson as the feisty aviator Trix, Marlon Ray Bengel and Nathan Uttangi as the hapless gangsters posing as pastry chefs and Amanda Kind as the wry title character, The Drowsy Chaperone. Kim Allred, Alison Enns, Sarah Erdman, Zach Haime, Moira King, Amy Leis, Sebastian Mateus, Victoria McGookin and Gabe Namtu round out the talented ensemble.
Don't miss The Drowsy Chaperone on stage at the Registry Theatre from November 6 to 15. Twist and Shout - The British Invasion
Mega !! Gear!! Fab!! Pop People

‘
'Come on, come on’ to the Dunfield Theatre Cambridge for a spectacular tribute to the music that rocked the world in Twist and Shout: The British Invasion. This energetic production celebrates the artists and songs that sparked a musical revolution, on stage 4 weeks only from March 5th to March 30th.
Conceived, written and directed by Drayton Entertainment’s Artistic Director, Alex Mustakas,Twist and Shout: The British Invasion is one of the most popular productions in the organization’s history. First staged in 2005 at the King’s Wharf Theatre in Penetanguishene followed by a record breaking run at the Huron Country Playhouse in Grand Bend, the show was an instant hit. This revival, which also marks the 50th anniversary of The Beatles coming to America, is poised to take Cambridge audiences by storm. In the early 1960s, groundbreaking British music began to drift across the ocean
and invade North America, and the bands themselves soon followed. The Dave Clark Five was the first band to tour America and soon after
four mop tops called The Beatles crossed the pond, forever changing the landscape of modern music.
The revolution that followed is expressed with glorious emotion in this fun-filled revue that features classic songs by The Beatles, Gerry & The Pacemakers, The Hollies, The Kinks, The Rolling Stones, The Searchers, Dave Clark Five, Herman’s Hermits, and many, many more.
“The ‘60s was an exciting time of revolutionary music that had an enormous impact on me personally,” says creator Alex Mustakas. “I am really looking forward to sharing this vibrant revival with our patrons in Cambridge.”
Light-hearted comedy, groovy fashions, swinging dance numbers and the music that shaped a generation is brought together in this imaginative, infectious, and immensely irresistible piece of ‘60s nostalgia. Over 60 show-stopping hits are performed by a first-rate ensemble of performers, including Jayme Armstrong, Alex Black, Lindsay Croxall, Gerrad Everard, Christine Glen, Jennifer Kee, Duff MacDonald, Sarah Matton, Robert Markus, Nicholas Nesbitt, Yvan Pednault and Nick Settimi.
Ted Simonett is the charismatic TV host and star of The Roy Solomon Show, around which the production is centered. Simonett takes theatre audiences back to a simpler time, reminiscent of the days when families gathered together around the television set to watch the hottest acts of the day perform on The Ed Sullivan Show.
“The set is fantastic,” says Mustakas. “We’ve acquired some authentic retro-style equipment in order to make the auditorium feel like a TV studio sound stage. It sets the right mood for audiences to relax, let loose, and have FUN!”
Working alongside Mustakas to mount this incredible show are Choreographer Gino Berti, Music Director Robert Foster, Lighting Designer Jeff Johnston Collins and Costume Designer Jessica Bray. The Original Set Designers for Twist and Shout: The British Invasion are Craig Guthrie and Richard Lawlor.
Twist and Shout: The British Invasion will have theatregoers rockin’ in their seats eight shows a week, March 5th through March 30th. Tickets can be purchased online by visiting www.dunfieldtheatrecambridge.com, in person at the Dunfield Theatre Cambridge Box Office, or by calling (519) 621-8000 or toll free 1-855- DRAYTON (372-9866).
It's no secret to those who know me that I love '60s music having chatted with Reg Presley from The Troggs, Peter Noone from Herman's Hermits, Gerry Marsden from Gerry and The Pacemakers, and The Beatles Outer Circle (** see my blog The Stringer for more **).
From the retro sets and live camerawork, to the hilarious array of vintage commericals on two huge video screens, Twist and Shout - The British Invasion took me back to watching some of the best TV in history.
The show was a glorious '60's pop culture snapshot from Britain's Best like Top of the Pops or North America's Really Big Ed Sullivan SHOO which made four young lads from Liverpool a household name.
Twist and Shout is Mega Gear Fab from start to finish. Christine Glen is a marvel as Shirley Bassey. Yvan Pedneault makes Hollies classic He Ain't Heavy, his own, and Gerrad Everard is a very (pun intended) ... "satifisfactory" Mick Jagger. Lead by Ted Simonett (Drayton's Harvey) as the very capable host of the Roy Solomon Show) this stellar cast creates a live music experience that will make you sing along to every hit as director Alex Mustakas takes the audience to the Toppermost of the Poppermost.
Here's a chat I did with Drayton Entertainment Executive Producer Steve Roth about Twist and Shout - The British Invasion. Well, Shake it A Baby .....! - Coral FM.
Kitchener Waterloo Little Theatre presents
The Dover Road by A.A.Milne

The Dover Road comes to the KWLT stage in March of 2014 for a three-week engagement.
KWLT (Waterloo Region's oldest theatre company) actually presented The Dover Road in 1947 - also an entry for The Western Ontario Drama League.
The play was written in 1921 by A.A. Milne, the author of the beloved Winnie-the-Pooh books.
Between 1917 and 1946, Milne wrote almost 30 plays, including three comedies produced on Broadway in the 1921-1922 season. One of those plays, The Dover Road, was selected by Burns Mantel as one of the season’s 10 best plays.
Its debut run was at the Bijou Theatre on Broadway; the play ran a total of 204 performances from December 1921 to June 1922. However, the play has been performed rarely since then.
Set in the isolated house located off the Dover road between London and Dover, the play quickly introduces us to a man and his young mistress. They are bound for the South of France; fleeing England their only recourse as a result of the rather draconian divorce laws of the time. The owner of the house, Mr. Latimer, has slightly different plans for them. He has, it seems a hobby of intercepting adulterous couples on their way to the Dover-Calais ferry,
encouraging them to spend a week to truly get to know one another.
On this night, he detains a man and his young mistress who soon discover another couple
- a woman and her young lover - who have been there a week. While the men fall
prey to suspicious illnesses, their luggage falls prey to suspicious incompetence. Forced by circumstance into staying, both couples are given time to figure out what they are getting themselves into, and how to get themselves out.
The Dover Road Director Adrienne Dandy (aka A.A.Dandy) actor Greg Allen who plays Leonard and Ever Lovin' Jug Band's Minnie Heart joined me in the studio to chat about KWLT's current
production The Dover Road by A.A. Milne which runs March 27,28,29, April 3,4,5, and April 10,11,12.
We had great fun playing 20's toons (Lemon in the Garden of Love, Am I A Passing Fancy)
and special Lego Blocks of 20's inspired music performed by Minnie Heart of the Ever Lovin Jug Band and composed by Jasha Narveson especially for this production, including a little ditty called Honey Bunch.

VOC Silent Film Harmonic's Ted Harms discusses
Buster Keaton's The General - A Girl, A Guy, and A Train...

Buster Keaton, co-wrote, co-directed and starred in this 1926 civil war era comedy classic based on William Pittenger's memoir The Great Locomotive Train Chase.
The General is the story of young Johnnie Gray (Keaton) who has two great loves in his life - his girl Annabelle Lee, (Marion Mack) and his beloved locomotive The General.
When The General and Annabelle Lee (aboard the train!) are kidnapped by Union spies, Johnnie gives chase to get them
both back safe and sound!
Though the film was not well received at the time, (made toward the end of the silent film era, with a huge budget!!) decades later, The General is now considered one of the greatest silent films ever made.
The American Film Institute rates The General as Number 18, and on AFI's 10th Anniversary List -The General now rates as one of the top 100 Movies of all time.
The VOC Silent Film Harmonic is a group of local musicians dedicated to performing live and original improvised soundtracks to silent films.
The General caps off the VOC's Sixth Season at Kitchener's Registry Theatre.
And VOC fans can rejoice! The group will be back for a seventh season.
Ted Harms from VOC Silent Film Harmonic is becoming a regular co-host on Coral FM. Harms provides fascinating insight into The General, in addition to his own playlist or "train set" which ranges from The Carter Family's Wabash Cannonball and Jane Siberry's Something About Trains to Clash song Train in Vain and The Kink's The Last of the Steam Powered Trains.
Members of the VOC Silent Film Harmonic include Ted Harms, bass, Bradford Nowak, drums, David Hunsberger, clarinet, and Wade Whittaker, guitar.
The VOC Silent Film Harmonic and The Registry Theatre present Buster Keaton's
The General Thursday March 27 @ 8pm.
Tickets are $15 at the door, $10 with a food bank donation.

Robert Daniels - Mega Shark Movie Bait!

In His Own Write.....
"A few weeks ago I entered a contest on the Asylum movie studio website, "Mega Shark 3 Fan Contest" I had to show just how much of a Mega Shark fan I was....
Two years ago I created a holiday called Mega Sharkmas.
What is MegaSharkmas you ask?
Each year on December 26th all good girls and boys are visited by Mega Shark and he brings them Asylum movies.
It is celebrated by watching the Mega Shark movies or just Shark movies in general and the singing of Sharkmas Carols. (Or any other Shark related activities). A few days ago I was asked to provide photos of Mega Sharkmas celebrations. I gladly provided the photos and a few days later I WAS TOLD I WON THE CONTEST!!!!!!! What this means is that I have won the chance to appear in Mega Shark 3 - Mega Shark vs. Mecha Shark and as the contest stated...."One lucky fan will die a bloody death onscreen (come on, you know what our budgets are)
"What specific fate they have in store for me I'm not 100% sure. I am being flown down to LA very soon to shoot my scene. I am so stoked for this." - Rob Daniels
Rob Daniels is a long time pal and fellow radio broadcasting colleague.
His show Visions in Sound (now in its 14th year) is a radio program that features interviews with music composers for film, television, and video games.
In addition to the interviews, Rob also features each composer's music!
Visions in Sound is a Must Hear for those film score fanatics (like myself) who will not leave the theatre until every last note of the score has been played. It was my great pleasure to have Rob Daniels as my guest. He speaks about his venerable radio show and how he ended up on the set of the latest "mockbuster" from audacious Burbank California based film studio The Asylum - also the makers of Sharknado! Mega Shark VS Mecha Shark stars Christopher Judge (Stargate SG1) and Elisabeth Rohm (American Hustle)

Last year was the first time I had a chance to cover the Elora Festival. Noel Edison was my very special radio guest.
This year I am looking forward to seeing more of these great performances.
I recently spoke with Elora Festival and Singers Savvy Couple - Marketing Co-Ordinator Jared Davison and Administrative Assistant Holly Boves who highlighted this year's Festival playbill for me. The Elora Festival was launched as the Three Centuries Festival in 1979. It has since evolved into an internationally acclaimed annual music event now known as the Elora Festival that attracts capacity crowds to the Village of Elora. Patrons enjoy four weeks of international calibre music, from large-scale classical works for choir and orchestra to intimate evenings of jazz and popular music.
